Haley is now 8 months old! Well, 8 and 1/2 months to be exact. It’s just hard to find the time to do these update posts! I love sharing them with you – even if they are a little late.
She’s crawling and is getting faster everyday! She started crawling a few days after she turned 8 months. She had been scooting around for a little while, but now she’s got the crawl thing down. And I have my hands full! She’s constantly after cords and iPhones. She’s into electronics, I guess. It’s so nice to be able to leave the room now and just have her crawl after me, instead of crying if I went from the living room to the kitchen without her. Now she just crawls along. She’s just about to start pulling her self up to stand. She’s been pulling up to her knees the past few days – so it won’t be long!
She’s also very talkative. More so than I remember Grady being. The other day it sounded like she said, “hello.” Lots of babbling baba and dada. And I think she’s starting to understand some of the signs I’ve been using with her – milk and more. She’s gets very excited when I sign milk before she nurses.
Breastfeeding is still going well. No problems in that department! She’s eating a lot more solids now, too. We’re still focusing on letting her feed herself (baby-led weaning), but we’ve been giving her some purees here and there. I’ve had a small stockpile of baby food and I didn’t want it to go to waste. She loves bringing the spoon to her own mouth though. And she’s now a pro at feeding herself from baby food pouches. She sucks that stuff down all by herself.
She’s still waking up between 3 and 4 times a night. We had one very rough night where she was up 8 times – but that’s not her normal. I had had a small cupcake that day and it seemed to bother her tummy (ie. her dairy sensitivity) or it could have also been teething. She’s now got 4 teeth. 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom.
Grady’s been doing relatively well with her. Now that she’s crawling he’s having some sharing issues. But it’s totally normal since he’s just a toddler and they’re only 2 years apart. Lately he’s been saying, “back away baby” when she gets close to his stuff. He’s very protective of his doggy guitar and his trains. When he’s not having problems sharing, he’s so sweet to her. He hugs her, gets her toys, and just generally watches out for her. I hope they have a great relationship as they get older.
