Valentine’s Day Themed Lunch [Toddler Food]

I’ve been making Grady some special lunches this week in honor of Valentine’s Day. He’s 2 – so he doesn’t quite get the appeal of the holiday, but he sure likes eating heart shaped food! I swear it seems like he’s eating more of his lunch than normal! His Valentine’s Day themed lunch must look more appetizing, LOL.

I’ve just been using our heart shaped cookie cutters. I have a set from Wilton. I’ve been using them to cut sandwiches, cheese, toast, etc. Pretty much anything I can get them through! They’ve also come in handy as a ring around certain foods (like the strawberries below). We have a ton of strawberries in the house, so he’s been eating lots of them.

I’ve also been using our heart shaped cutter from FunBites. It leaves quite a bit of sandwich left, but it comes out really cute, and I just eat the leftover piece. That’s what I used to cut the sandwich in the picture below.

Here’s our lunch from yesterday (on a Skip Hop plate). It’s the only day I remembered to take a picture before he dug in! He’s got a peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwich cut into a heart, cheese cut in heart shapes, and strawberries in a heart shaped ring. Simple. And it only took me a few minutes longer than it normally does for an everyday lunch. Maybe I’ll get into making him Bento lunches. :)

Valentine's Day Themed Lunch

Will you be making your kid a Valentine’s Day themed lunch? I’ll be making Grady another one today! I’m thinking I’ll sprinkle cinnamon in a heart shape on his applesauce.

Our children loved “shaped” food year around. We would make pancakes into animal shapes. Now my own children do the same for the grandchildren.
