Healthier Options for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is all about sweet treats – but that’s not so great for little kids. It’s okay in moderation, and Grady already got some little chocolates from his Elmo (my mom). Instead of treats from me, he’ll be getting a Heart Balloon and a puzzle – and lots of hugs and kisses, of course!

If you feel like you need to give some kind of treat for Valentine’s Day (especially if you need something for a whole class), Earth’s Best has a bunch of healthier options for Valentine’s Day that would work great – without all the extra sugar!

 Letter of the Day Cookies : Great tasting way for kids to learn their ABCs AND no hydrogenated oils, no trans saturated fats, no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.

 Sunny Days Snack Bars: Individual wrapped bars filled with the juicy flavor of fresh-picked apples inside a wholesome cereal crust are perfect for Valentine’s Day gifts for classmates.

 Fruit & Yogurt Smoothies: Show a little love on-the-go this Valentine’s Day with an Earth’s Best Fruit & Yogurt Smoothie packed with calcium.

Instead of giving food as a Valentine for your child’s classmates, you could do a craft! Earth’s Best’s jars make wonderful repurposed gifts. Here are a few ideas:

 Decorate any size Earth’s Best jar with ribbon or construction paper (have your child choose their favorite colors!) Then fill the jars with soil, add the flower bulb of your choice and voila — Earth’s Best jars become cute creative planters.

 Wash jars of any size and paint each individual’s name on them (or you could print labels, etc.). Fill each jar with Earth’s Best Yogurt Puffs or Pop Snax. These will become perfect personalized gifts to give to classmates!

 Use empty jars to make fun snow globes – just add water, glue some fun figurines to the lid and add some glitter.

What healthier options for Valentine’s Day will you be doing for your kids this year? Or do you let them indulge for one day?

  1. I actually did fruit cut up into heart shapes for the preschool snack that day. They loved it and most of them ate all of it up
