When I was pregnant with Grady, I HAD to know whether I was having a boy or a girl! I like to have every little detail planned out, and I just wouldn’t have been satisfied with gender neutral colors for the nursery and clothing. This time it’s no different! For months, I’ve been thinking over and over in my head about nursery decor scenarios. Like whether or not I’ll have to incorporate pink into Grady’s boy colored room (they’ll be sharing). The 20 week ultrasound is a long time to wait if your anxious to find out…..like me!
Luckily, there’s a product on the market that lets you know sooner! The IntelliGender Gender Prediction Test can give you results as early as 10 weeks by way of a urine sample in the privacy of your own home. According to IntelliGender, the test has a 90% accuracy rate. Just remember, you still need to get the “official” result from your health care provider.
IntelliGender graciously sent me a test to review. It’s really very simple to use. Just insert a sample of your first morning urine into the test cup, swirl, wait a few minutes, and read the results! There’s a combination of chemicals in the cup that react with the hormones in your urine to produce a specific color. Dark green for boy, and orange for girl. Just be sure to read all instructions carefully, as the color can change over time. The color you get after 10 minutes is your result, even if it changes to a different color after an hour.
Here’s my results. Very clearly a boy! If your not sure of your results, just email IntelliGender and they’ll have somebody help. Isn’t that nice? And if they can’t tell…..they’ll send you another test. For free!
Now, here’s the part you all want to know. Was it right? We had our 20 week ultrasound this past week and found out we’re having………………..
A GIRL!!! So the test wasn’t accurate for us, but still very fun to take! It’s a fun little activity to do with your partner while your waiting for the official gender results. I just wouldn’t recommend buying your baby’s entire wardrobe based off the results!
